8th Grade Commitment
- Register to take either Health Team Relations or Biomedical Technology as a 9th grader.
- Maintain good grades and discipline for the remainder of the school year.
- Optional: Student may begin the 25 hours of document volunteer service that must be completed during the 9th grade year.
9th Grade Commitment

- Take required Health Sciences Academy courses for your chosen Course of Study.
- Complete 25 hours of documented volunteer service during the 9th grade year.
- Maintain good discipline and represent the Academy well. This includes not committing any infractions (see the Pitt County Schools'Code of Student Conduct).
10th Grade Commitment
- Take required Health Sciences Academy courses for your chosen Course of Study.
- Complete 25 addititional hours of documented volunteer service (50 hours cumulative) during the 10th grade year.
- Maintain good discipline and represent the Academy well. This includes not committing any catergory II, III, or IV disciplinary infractions, as well as repeated category I disciplinary infractions (see the Pitt County Schools'Code of Student Conduct).
- Earn the following grade point average (GPA) by the end of the 10th grade and maintain it throughout high school:
- If following the College/University Prep or College Tech Prep Courses of Study, must have a 3.3 weighted GPA or higher (Therapeutic/Diagnostic)
- If following the Career Prep or Occupational Courses of Study, must have a 2.5 weighted GPA or higher (Healthcare Environmental/Support Services)
11th Grade Commitment
- Take required Health Sciences Academy courses for your chosen Course of Study
- Complete 25 additional hours of documented volunteer service (75 hours cumulative) during the 11th grade year.
- Maintain good discipline and represent the Academy well. This includes not committing any category II, III, or IV disciplinary infractions, as well as repeated category I disciplinary infractions (see the Pitt County Schools' Code of Conduct).
- Maintain the grade point average (GPA) required for your chosen Course of Study.
12th Grade Commitment
- Take required Health Sciences Academy for your chosen Course of Study
- Complete 25 additional hours of documented volunteer service (100 hours cumulative) during the 12th grade year.
- Maintain good discipline and represent the Academy well. This includes not committing any category II, III, or IV disciplinary infractions, as well as repeated category I disciplinary infractions (see the Pitt County Schools' Code of Conduct).
- Maintain the grade point average (GPA) required for your chosen Course of Study.
- If following the College/University Prep or College Tech Prep Courses of Study (Therapeutic/Diagnostic):
- Complete the Health Sciences Pathway -- four credits from the following courses:
- Health Team Relations AND/OR Biomedical Technology
- Allied Health Sciences I OR Medical Sciences I
- Honors Medical Sciences II OR Medical Sciences II OR Allied Health Sciences II (2 credits)
- Honors Chemistry OR Chemistry
- AP Biology Or Honors Anatomy & Physiology Anatomy & Physiology
- Strongly recommended, but not required:
- Honors Health Sciences Biology OR Health Sciences Biology
- If following the Occupational Courses of Study (Healthcare Environmental/Support Services):
- Health Team Relations
- Strongly recommend Foods I - Fundamentals
- Strongly recommend completing Community-Based Hours required for diploma completion with Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
